HarvestingOur mugwort comes from wild, respectful harvesting: no fertilizers or pesticides, growing in preserved areas recognized as 'Villages without Pesticides'. We harvest it by hand around the summer solstice, following the solar cycle and the 'leaf' days of the lunar calendar, as the ancient druids did. Harvests are carried out with permissions from public domain management companies or agreements from private landowners. Once cut, it is gathered into bundles and hung head down in a naturally ventilated drying room to maximize its energy. Unlike industrial Asian methods—intensive cultivation, mechanical harvesting, no sorting, phenol treatment, and oven drying—we favor an artisanal and respectful approach. |

Moxa ProductionOnce dried, the mugwort is gently mechanically stripped, then ground and rolled into moxa sticks in our workshop. These rolls, called "moxas," are wrapped in thin, durable paper. The term "moxa" comes from the Japanese "moguza," meaning "prolonged fire." The paper we use is supplied by a French eco-responsible papermaker and entirely produced in France. |
