The warm needle technique

In the warm needle technique, a piece of moxa is fixed to the handle of an acupuncture needle and lit, so that the heat travels down the needle. It is customary to make three successive applications on the same needle.

Which format?

Mini moxa rolls fit straight onto the needle. M1 (Ø 15 mm, L 11 mm, box of 60) spreads the heat over a wider area; M2 (Ø 9 mm, L 11 mm, box of 180) burns for about 3 to 4 minutes; M3 (Ø 9 mm, L 22 mm, box of 90) is longer and keeps the heat going for longer. They can also be used for indirect moxibustion, on a slice of ginger or garlic. If you prefer to shape your own moxa, Lux Alba fine wool (25 g) is purified from the soft down of mugwort leaves.

All of them are made in France from wild mugwort leaves. The beechwood moxa scoop, placed on the skin, safely catches burnt moxa. This technique calls for uncoated needles, such as our TeWa needles, sold to practitioners only.
