Needles suitable for moxibustion

TeWa CB-Type acupuncture needles are uncoated, fitted with a copper spiral handle, and supplied with guide tube.

We deliberately offer only uncoated needles for moxibustion. Although one of the few available studies reports no risk associated with coated needles under indirect heating conditions (see study), measured temperatures remain far below those observed during direct-contact moxibustion.

In practice, the temperature at the core of burning moxa can exceed 600 °C, while silicone materials begin to degrade at around 500 °C. For this reason, uncoated needles are recommended for moxibustion.

Purpose of the guide tube

The guide tube facilitates needle insertion, improves precision and can enhance comfort during puncture, particularly in clinical or teaching settings.
