10 Rolls of MOXA R1 Ø15mm-L200mm
Box of 10 moxa sticks (or moxa rolls) with a diameter of 1.5 cm and a length of 20 cm (Reference: R1), made from wild common mugwort leaves harvested in France, producing a softer smoke that is generally better tolerated, thanks to an artisanal manufacturing process.
Artisanal moxa sticks made in France
Moxa sticks, also known as moxa rolls, are made from leaves of mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris), the same plant traditionally used for Chinese moxa. Unlike many imported industrial products — often made from cultivated mugwort, artificially dried, sometimes including other parts of the plant or additional components — our moxa sticks are made in France from wild mugwort leaves harvested in France, using traditional artisanal methods.
The mugwort leaves are naturally dried, then ground and formed into compact rolls, wrapped in a single layer of very fine paper, ensuring a smooth and consistent burn.
What is moxibustion?
Moxibustion is an ancient traditional practice based on the use of moxa, a material derived from mugwort leaves. It originates from East Asian traditions and is part of a body of knowledge passed down for centuries.
Moxa is most commonly found in the form of moxa sticks, also called moxa rolls, appreciated for their slow and steady combustion. In the context of moxibustion, the quality of the moxa, the origin of the mugwort and the manufacturing process are essential.
Today, moxibustion is primarily regarded as a traditional and cultural practice, distinct from any medical act. Moxa sticks are valued for their material qualities, origin and craftsmanship, rather than for claimed therapeutic effects.
Manufacturing and materials
The paper used for our moxa sticks comes from a French paper mill located in the Alps, renowned for its expertise in fine and technical papers for over a century. It is made from selected plant fibers, including certified wood pulp or sustainable vegetal fibers, and features a low grammage and controlled porosity, ideal for precise moxa wrapping.
The paper is assembled using a food-grade adhesive, applied in very small quantities. This ensures proper roll stability without affecting combustion or producing unwanted odors during use.
